The moment this is for

When you understand a little… but answering feels hard.

At the airport

You practised "Hola, yo soy…" for weeks. She says something warm and fast, and you smile and nod.

At the table

"¿Quieres más?" — you know both words. You still answer in English.

At the counter

The price comes back as a number you have never heard out loud, and you just hand over a note.

Practise introducing yourself, ordering food, asking for help, hearing prices and checking in — one short conversation at a time.

How it works

One phrase, five passes, two different places.

Take one line: ¿Cuánto cuesta? This is what happens to it.

1 · Warm-up

Two or three phrases you hear before anything is asked of you.

2 · Listening check

What did that mean, and where are you? Meaning first, speaking after.

3 · Repeat with help

Spanish and English on screen. Slower and meaning are always one tap away.

4 · Say it without the text

The model is covered. One tap brings it back — using help is not failing.

5 · Try it somewhere new

The same line in the corner shop, then at the counter, with a different person answering.

Days later that phrase comes back on its own, in review, fed by what you actually practised — not by what you clicked.

Feedback

One correction at a time.

Illustrative example — nothing graded here

¿Cuánto cuesta la chaqueta?

¿Cuántocuestalachaqueta?

One thing to fix: la did not come through. Say it again.

  • When your browser can listen, it compares your words with the written phrase.
  • It is a word check, not a pronunciation score — and never a grade.
  • No microphone, or you would rather not use one? Choose Practise without a voice check and keep going.
  • The end of a scene only says what really happened: practised with help, tried without help.

The route

Nine modules, in three stretches.

One month abroad, in order. Each stretch reuses the phrases of the one before.

Arrive

Your first hours: the ride home, the family, the room.
  • Module 1Arriving
  • Module 2The family
  • Module 3The house

Everyday life

Saying how you are, eating out, finding your way.
  • Module 4How you feel
  • Module 5Eating out
  • Module 6Directions

Explore

Buying things, travelling, checking in somewhere new.
  • Module 7Shopping
  • Module 8Travel
  • Module 9Where you sleep

Put it together in six short missions: meet someone, order a drink, ask them to repeat, find a place, buy something and check in.

What you practise

  • Introduce yourself and say where you are from, in your own words
  • Order food and drink, and answer the questions that come back
  • Ask for directions and understand the answer
  • Buy things, ask the price and hear the numbers
  • Buy a bus ticket, one way or return
  • Check in where you sleep and ask for what you need

Built for the first turns of a conversation. Start with a 5–10 minute goal, repeat at your own pace, and return to the phrases you want to strengthen.

Inside the app

Listen, repeat, then say it from memory.

Every reply follows the same three steps, and your learning progress is saved to your account, so you can pick up where you left off on another device.

Your first conversation, in about five minutes

A short guided café scene: you hear the barista, hear the model reply, see what it means, repeat it — and only then say the three replies with the Spanish hidden.

The same three replies, compared

Your first complete voice check becomes your reference, kept exactly as it happened, with its date. Say the same three replies another day and you see both, side by side. Replies you did not check stay marked as pending — never as a zero.

Phrases that need another round

Phrases you already worked on that needed help, missed words, or had no voice check yet, gathered in one short session. Extra practice never moves your review dates.

A word check, not a score

Speaking out loud is optional. If your browser cannot listen, you can record one short try instead. It checks words — not accent, pronunciation or fluency.

Example

First check (15 Mar): 1 of 3 replies accepted without help → 22 Mar: 3 of 3.

An illustration of the screen, not a student result. Same three replies, same scene.

Is this for you?

Yes, if…

You know some words, you have done an app or two, and the moment someone answers in Spanish your head goes blank. You want to speak before the trip, not after.

Probably not, if…

You already hold conversations comfortably, or you want grammar drills and verb tables. This is about talking.

Questions

Do I need a microphone?

No. Saying the phrases out loud is the point, and you can do that with no microphone at all — there is a "Practise without a voice check" option from the start. If your browser can listen, you also get a word-by-word check of what came through.

Is my voice recorded or stored?

By default the check runs through your browser's own speech service. If your browser cannot do it — many iPhones cannot — you can choose to record one short try, which we send to our speech provider (ElevenLabs) only to recognise the words. We do not store the recording or the transcript in the app — we save your learning progress — and what ElevenLabs keeps is covered by their own privacy policy and plan. You can always practise without any voice check.

How long does it take?

Each situation is a short conversation, around 5–10 minutes, and there are 18 of them plus a speaking challenge per module. You set the pace.

Is it a subscription?

No. $39.99 once, and the course stays in your account.

What ebooks are included?

Your purchase includes the 40-page illustrated Your Real-Life Spanish Pocket Guide — 16 everyday contexts, 128 essential phrase examples and 16 bilingual dialogues — and the 18-page fillable Speak, Remember, Repeat workbook. You can print them or use a compatible PDF reader; PDF entries do not sync to the app.

What Spanish is it?

Colombian Spanish, spoken clearly and a little slowly, because it is built for beginners.

What do I need to start?

A phone or laptop and somewhere you can talk out loud.
