Built by a real teacher
María Charry is a native Colombian teacher and the founder of Spanish But Real. She has helped more than 200 students start with their first Spanish words and work toward conversation. That beginner teaching experience shapes this challenge.
There’s a real person behind what you’re learning. Have a question about the challenge? Message María on Instagram.
The challenge is self-paced. Live classes and personal lesson reviews are not included.
Start with model-first support. Hear the line, see what it means and repeat before trying it from memory. English instructions help you follow the story.
Choose less help and test what you can say back. Open the model when you need it and keep practising the situations that feel less familiar.
Designed for first conversations. If you already converse comfortably, this beginner challenge will probably be too simple.

Start with the airport. Build toward everyday conversations. Keep the practice after day 30.
Yes. Choose the guided entry: listen to the model, read the English meaning and rehearse before replying. You can replay, slow down and reveal help as often as you need.
This challenge is designed to help you practise your first everyday conversations, not to promise fluency in a month. You’ll work on introducing yourself, ordering, asking for help, shopping and travelling. Your progress depends on your starting point and practice.
Yes. The story begins in Colombia and uses Colombian voices. The situations and much of the language also apply across Latin America, including Mexico and Peru. You’ll meet some Colombian expressions; wording and everyday customs vary by country.
Plan around 15–25 minutes on a practice day, including repetition. Each day is divided into smaller blocks. Pause when you need to, then return to your saved place.
No. The 30 days describe the guided challenge, not an access limit. You can take longer and continue revisiting conversations, missions and reviews afterward.
No. You pay US$49.99 once for the challenge and its study and practice resources. There is no subscription or automatic renewal.
It compares the words recognised in your speech with the model reply and shows what needs another try. It does not measure your accent, pronunciation or general fluency. Recognition can make mistakes, so you can listen and try again.
No. You can choose “Practise without a voice check” and say the reply out loud yourself. Those attempts are kept separate from checked replies.
Depending on your browser, recognition uses its speech service or a short recording sent to ElevenLabs to recognise the words. The app saves learning progress, not your recording or transcript. The speech provider’s handling of data follows its own policy and plan.
This is a self-paced challenge with automated word feedback, not a package of live classes. María created the learning sequence, and you can contact Spanish But Real with questions about the product.
A phone or computer, an internet connection and somewhere you can practise out loud. No textbook or previous Spanish course is required.
